A Veterans Justice Outreach specialist travels to Brevard County to meet with and assist veterans in the Brevard County Jail or in the 18th Circuit Court. They do not provide legal services. The goal is prevent incarceration and to reduce the number of veterans who re-offend after release from jail. The specialist works with the Veterans Court, as well as law enforcement officers and attorneys. A key component is education about Post Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD), Traumatic Brain Injury (TBI) and services available through the VA.
